Pro-Bono Counseling

Under the rules of New York City’s Local Brownfield Cleanup Program, citizens are provided with the opportunity to review and comment on Remedial Action Work Plans (cleanup plans) for all designated brownfield cleanup projects. These plans can be highly technical and difficult to understand for the lay citizen.

To address this need, as well as assist with a broad range of questions pertaining to brownfield development, the NYC Brownfield Partnership (the Partnership) offers member-supported consultation to community residents, groups and corporations, that require assistance in understanding Remedial Action Work Plans, as well as the implications of brownfield remediation and cleanup in their communities.

Several of the Partnership’s attorney and consultant member organizations have agreed to provide pro-bono counseling on a limited basis to community residents and groups that require assistance in reviewing and understanding cleanup plans and related brownfield development issues. If you or your organization has questions relating to Remedial Action Work Plans, or general questions related to brownfield cleanup and redevelopment, you may contact the Partnership via e-mail as indicated below.

Given the voluntary nature of this program the Partnership cannot guarantee that all requests by the public for assistance can be serviced. In addition, except in unusual circumstances, persons who have received prior legal or technical advice for the matter for which they are requesting pro bono advice are not eligible.

For more information on the Pro-bono Counseling Program, or if you are a community member and would like counseling on a cleanup plan or brownfield redevelopment, please contact us at pro.bono@nycbrownfieldpartnership.org. A member of the Pro Bono Committee will contact you.
